MedCenterAIR plane sitting on ramp with ambulance in Los Cabos, Mexico on sunny day with mountain range in the background

Airshare manages four FAA-certified air ambulance aircraft that fly for Charlotte-based Atrium Healthcare’s MedCenter Air. Each day, they maintain five sets of duty crews to launch aircraft 24/7/365 within two hours of notification. All 21 MedCenter Air pilots are Airshare employees. Additionally, four full-time mechanics are on call around the clock to service and maintain these aircraft.

The pilots in our air ambulance division are not just employees; they are the backbone of our service. They are some of Airshare’s most senior employees, with the top four boasting an impressive 25-35 years of service. All Medevac aircraft are fully equipped ALS (Advanced Life Support) flying ambulances with built-in medical oxygen and lifesaving support equipment. Each patient transport flight is dispatched with at least two medical crews consisting of specially trained nurses, respiratory therapists, and paramedics. The Air Ambulance division routinely flies critically ill patients of all types, including neonatal patients in Isolettes (incubator), burn patients, FEMA flights during hurricane and other emergencies, as well as American citizens injured outside the country. Though patient transport is their primary mission, a significant number of flights are for organ procurement, both for Charlotte-based LifeShare Carolinas and third-party teams.

A huge thank you to our team at the Air Ambulance Division. The lives saved are countless!
